TGPSC Group 1 Exam Pattern

The Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) conducts the Group-1 Services Examination to recruit candidates for prestigious administrative posts in the state government. The selection procedure is designed to evaluate candidates’ analytical ability, subject knowledge, and administrative aptitude. 

The TSPSC Group-1 selection process consists of two stages: 

1. Preliminary Examination (Objective Type) 

2. Main Examination (Descriptive / Conventional Type) 

Candidates must qualify in each stage to progress to the next stage of the recruitment process. 

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination 

The Preliminary Examination is a screening test intended to shortlist candidates for the Main Examination. 

Key Features 

• The exam consists of one objective-type paper. 

• A total of 150 questions will be asked. 

• Each question carries 1 mark, making the total 150 marks.

 • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes. 

• No negative marking for incorrect answers. 

• The examination is qualifying in nature, and marks obtained will not be included in the final merit list. 

• The examination will be conducted in English, Telugu, and Urdu.

Stage 2: Main Examination
Candidates who qualify in the Preliminary Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination,
which is descriptive in nature.

Key Features

• The exam consists of 6 descriptive papers and 1 qualifying paper.

• Each paper has a duration of 3 hours.

• The General English paper is qualifying, and marks obtained in this paper will not be included
in the final merit list.

• The difficulty level of the General English paper is equivalent to the 10th standard.

• No negative marking applies in the Main Examination.

• The exam will be conducted in English, Telugu, and Urdu.
